The Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment (AGILE) has handed over a completed infrastructure project to Government Junior Secondary School (GJSS), Akko Gari, in Gombe State.
The project was handed over following its certification by the relevant authorities, in a move aimed at improving the learning environment and promoting girls’ education in the state.
The handover was led by the State Project Coordinator of Gombe AGILE, Dr Amina Haruna Abdul, alongside the Commissioner and Permanent Secretary of Education.
Speaking during the exercise, the AGILE team said the intervention was designed to provide students, particularly adolescent girls, with a safer and more conducive environment for learning.
Learning materials were also distributed to students as part of efforts to support effective teaching and learning in the school.
The School-Based Management Committee (SBMC) and the school community were urged to take ownership of the facility and ensure its proper maintenance and sustainability.
The intervention is part of ongoing efforts under the AGILE programme to strengthen school infrastructure, improve learning outcomes and expand opportunities for girls to access quality education.
The initiative also aligns with the Gombe State Government’s education reform agenda under Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, which prioritises improved learning environments and increased access to education for children, especially girls.
