Gombe NSCDC gets new Commandant

By Abubakar Rabilu Gombe

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has appointed Commandant Mohammed Inuwa Usman as the 15th substantive Commandant of its Gombe State Command.

Usman assumed duty on Monday following a formal handover ceremony at the command’s headquarters in Gombe, succeeding Commandant Jibrin Idris, who has been redeployed to the corps’ national headquarters in Abuja.

In a statement signed by the Gombe State Command’s Public Relations Officer, CSC Buhari Sa’ad, the outgoing commandant expressed gratitude to the Commandant-General, Prof. Ahmed Abubakar Audi, for the opportunity to serve in the state.

Idris also thanked the Gombe State Government, residents, sister security agencies and personnel of the command for their cooperation and support throughout his tenure.

He urged stakeholders to extend the same support to his successor to ensure continuity in service delivery and sustain efforts to maintain peace and security across the state.

In his remarks, the new commandant pledged to strengthen the operational capacity of the command and align his administration with the vision and strategic objectives of the Commandant-General.

He identified the protection of lives and property, safeguarding critical national assets and infrastructure, disaster prevention and management, and the regulation of private guard companies as key areas of focus.

Usman also emphasised intelligence gathering, inter-agency collaboration and community engagement as essential strategies for addressing security challenges in Gombe State.

He assured officers and men of the command that their welfare, capacity development and operational efficiency would receive priority attention.

The commandant further charged personnel to uphold discipline, professionalism, integrity and commitment to duty, while remaining proactive and civil in their dealings with members of the public.

He appealed to residents to support the corps by providing timely and credible information that could assist in preventing crime and maintaining peace and security.

Usman also warned criminal elements to abandon unlawful activities, cautioning that anyone found engaging in criminal acts would face the full weight of the law.

The change in leadership is expected to provide an opportunity to strengthen the NSCDC’s operations in Gombe State, particularly through improved collaboration with other security agencies and closer engagement with local communities.
