The Journalists for Public Health and Development Initiative (J4PD) has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic death of the Executive Secretary of the Bauchi State Health Contributory Management Agency (BASHCMA), Alhaji Ibrahim Inuwa Duguri (Yariman Yankari), and four of his children in a fatal motor accident last Saturday.
The organisation extends its heartfelt condolences to the Bauchi State Government, the management and staff of BASHCMA, the immediate family of the deceased, and all those affected by this heartbreaking loss.
The four children who died alongside their father were identified as Hajara, Usman, Rukayya and Maryam.
In a condolence message, J4PD described the incident as a devastating tragedy that has robbed Bauchi State of a dedicated public servant and his family of a beloved father and husband .
The organisation noted that the loss is particularly painful given the late Executive Secretary’s contributions to the advancement of healthcare access and the promotion of Universal Health Coverage in the state.
J4PD recalled that its management recently paid an advocacy visit to BASHCMA, during which late Alhaji Ibrahim Inuwa Duguri expressed his willingness to collaborate with the organisation to increase the enrolment of eligible residents into the state health contributory scheme.
According to the organisation, the late Executive Secretary demonstrated a commendable commitment to partnerships that would expand access to affordable healthcare and ensure that more residents, particularly underserved and vulnerable populations, benefit from essential health services.
J4PD said his pledge to work with the organisation remains a significant reminder of the importance of collaboration among government institutions, civil society organisations and the media in advancing public health and achieving Universal Health Coverage.
While mourning the deceased, J4PD prayed that Almighty Allah grants his soul Aljannatul Firdaus and gives the four children the same eternal rest. The organisation also prayed for strength, patience and comfort for the bereaved family, as well as the wisdom and fortitude for the Bauchi State Government and BASHCMA to bear this painful loss.
The organisation urged the family, friends, colleagues and associates of the deceased to find solace in his contributions to public service and healthcare development, while remembering the lives of the four children lost in the tragic incident.
J4PD extends its deepest sympathies to all who are grieving and prays that Almighty Allah grants the entire family the strength to endure this irreparable loss. May the souls of the departed rest in perfect peace. Amen, as contained in a statement E-signed by Bashir Hassan Abubakar, Knowledge Management and Communication (KMC) Advisor
