Lavun community appeals for fixing of  only primary Healthcare Centre

Datsun community in Lavun local government area of Niger has lamented the deplorable condition of the only general Hospital in the area constructed since 2008 have been neglected by the  subsequent governments.

The District head of the community,Alh Mohammad Abubakar Majin ,disclosed this to news men in “save our soul” letter to the Niger State and Lavun local local government, decried that inspite of several complaints by the community to various authorities to no avail.

Alh Abubakar, further explained that the hospital which was established by previous government of governor Abdulkhadir Kure in 2008, it has not received any attention from the subsequent administrations thereby worsening the entire condition of the hospital.

According to the District head, for the past 20 years Dustun General Hospital serves as the Federal medical centre FMC where  people from far distance across  River Niger,Kwara State usually bring patients for admission.

“The community and the youth have been trying  their best but have limitations due to financial constraints, even recently Lavun local government promised to send delegations to know the extent of damages for the past three months but has not been  forthcoming, adding that the neglect by government
agencies has compounded the sufferings experience by the people for the past 10 years.

Alh Abubakar further explained that it has been the responsibilities of the youth in the community to make sacrifices,adding that parents also contributed and reconstruct the roof some years ago.

Also  former councillor from Dutsun Ward,Hon Mohammed  Kolo Dutsun, in a seperate telephone interview, said the  Hospital due to long term neglect by both state and local government authority’s the Dutsun general Hospital has not been habitable.

“Presently if you visit the hospital you will aggree with me that no government is in existence, because for many years now, the roof of the hospital has been blown off, while the building is gradually collapsing, due to cracks on the wall”while the floor is water logg.

Former councillor said the  Hospital needs total rehabilitation as already ceilings and Windows are falling apart,no beddings and mattresses,only two nurses are offering skeletal services in the hospital without a medical Doctors.
