Nigeria have secured a place in the quarter-finals of the ongoing 2026 TotalEnergies CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations with an emphatic 6-2 victory over Egypt in their final Group C match at the Rabat Olympic Stadium on Wednesday.

According to a report by cafonline, the Super Falcons entered the match needing a positive result after opening the tournament with a surprise defeat to Malawi and a narrow win over Zambia.

They rose to the occasion with their most convincing performance of the competition, securing a place in the quarter-finals alongside Malawi.

Asisat Oshoala gave Nigeria the lead from the penalty spot in the 21st minute before Gift Monday doubled the advantage in first-half stoppage time after being played through by Rinsola Babajide.

Egypt reduced the deficit moments later when Nadine Ghazi converted a penalty deep into added time, sending Nigeria into the break with a 2-1 lead.

The Super Falcons dominated the second half, with Uchenna Kanu, Christy Ucheibe, Rasheedat Ajibade and Joy Omewa all finding the net to put the result beyond doubt.

Ghazi grabbed her second goal of the match in the 84th minute for Egypt, but it proved only a consolation as the North Africans finished the group stage without a point.

The convincing win completed Nigeria’s recovery from their opening setback, as Justine Madugu’s side claimed consecutive victories to book their place in the knockout stage and avoid an early exit from the tournament.
