AIT Integrated Farms has distributed 3,000 boiled eggs to children in selected Tsangaya/Almajiri schools across Gombe State to mark World Egg Day 2026 and the farm’s 10th anniversary.
The outreach, held on Friday, was the first phase of a two-day celebration aimed at promoting child nutrition, social inclusion and community development.
The promoter of AIT Integrated Farms, Abubakar Inuwa Tata, said the initiative was designed to ensure that vulnerable children have access to nutritious food, regardless of their economic background.
“Behind the word Almajiri is a child seeking knowledge, carrying dreams and deserving the same care and opportunities as every other child,” Tata said.
He noted that eggs are an affordable source of high-quality protein and essential nutrients that support children’s growth, cognitive development and overall well-being.
Tata said the distribution demonstrated how private agricultural businesses could contribute to addressing nutritional challenges in their communities.
The farm is set to continue the celebration on Saturday, October 10, with a training and empowerment programme for 102 selected backyard poultry farmers from communities across Gombe State.
Each beneficiary will receive practical training in improved poultry management and one rooster to support local breeding, increase productivity and improve household livelihoods.
The farm will also provide business support grants to 10 egg-selling entrepreneurs, subject to the completion of an eligibility verification process.
According to Tata, the grants will help strengthen the working capital of existing egg retailers who have demonstrated commitment and resilience in sustaining their businesses despite economic challenges.
He explained that egg retailers play an important role in connecting poultry producers with households and consumers, thereby strengthening the egg distribution value chain.
“Our approach to community development combines immediate nutritional support with longer-term economic empowerment.
“While today’s activity focuses on nourishing children, tomorrow’s programme will focus on strengthening livelihoods and supporting entrepreneurship,” he said.
Tata added that the farm’s 10th anniversary offered an opportunity to deepen its social impact and reaffirm its commitment to sustainable agriculture, improved nutrition, youth and women’s economic empowerment, and community well-being.
The two-day celebration is anchored on the message of nourishing children, empowering farmers and building stronger communities.
