Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago, has praised and recognized the commitment and sacrifices of the Nigerian Army in securing the nation.
The Governor expressed his appreciation during the 2025 West African Social Activities (WASA), jointly organized by the Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC) and the 31 Artillery Brigade, held in Minna Military Cantonment.
Umaru Bago appreciated the Nigerian Army for its dedication to protecting the lives and property of citizens in the state and across the country, noting that the armed forces have continued to repel criminals and restore peace in troubled parts of the state.
While acknowledging the efforts of the officers and soldiers of the Nigerian Army, the Governor reiterated his administration’s commitment to support them and their families to succeed.
On behalf of the state government, the Governor then presented a donation of N20 million to each of the Nigerian Army Officers Wives Association and the Nigerian Soldiers Wives Association.
The Commander of the Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC) Headquarters, Nigerian Army, Minna Major General Paul Malla, emphasized the significance of WASA, explaining that the traditional festival has been held for many decades to build soldiers’ confidence and foster unity.
He stated that the Nigerian Army has maintained this tradition, which continues to provide a relaxing environment for service members and their families to come together, enjoy themselves, and showcase Nigeria’s rich ethnic and cultural heritage.
The event’s highlight was the presentation of a plaque from TRADOC and the 31 Artillery Brigade to the governor as a symbol of friendship and gratitude for his support to the troops in Niger State.
The event also featured cultural displays and a tug-of-war contest between Nigerian Army personnel and the Nigeria Police Force.
