Bauchi State Stakeholders of the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), have resolved to remain in the party ahead of the 2027 general elections in spite of the ongoing leadership crisis at the national level.
The decision was arrived at on Sunday at the end of a consultative meeting held at the Banquet Hall of the Government House presided over by the Governor, Sen Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed.

Briefing Government House Correspondents at the end of the meeting, State Chairman of the PDP, Pharmacist Samaila Adamu Burga, assured that there was no cause for alarm.
According to him, the Stakeholders meeting was necessitated based on current political situation in the country as well as preparations for 2027 general elections in line with the timetable released by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
He added that the main concern is how to ensure a hitch-free and rancour free primary elections which will produce candidates for the general elections.
He stressed that, “This very important meeting was attended by all members of the PDP at the National level, Commissioners and Special Advisers, Council Chairpersons, State Working Committee members and some non SWC members, and other relevant stakeholders.”
Samaila Burga added that, “After serious discussions, it was agreed that there is a need for setting up of a powerful Committee headed by the Governor, Sen Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, saddled with the responsibility of how to navigate the situation and come up with a position.”
The PDP Chairman stressed out that,”The main focus is how to ensure that all our aspirants who will later become candidates have a platform on which they will contest for the various political offices.”
On the issue of resignation by those having political interests, he said that, it is purely a government policy which will be implemented at the appropriate time considering that the deadline for submission of intent form is early May 2026.
