Two months after driving the vehicle which was involved in a crash while conveying Thirteen Journalists leading to the death of two, the driver, Aminu Abdullahi, has been sacked by the Bauchi State Government.
He sacking was done by the Bauchi State Civil Service Commission during its recent sitting disclosing that Aminu Abdullahi, who was a Clerical Assistant, at the State Service, was sacked for misconduct.
The CSC explained that, “This disciplinary action, promotions and conversions formed part of the activities carried out during the Commission’s 13th plenary session on Tuesday 14th April, 2026, held at its conference Hall.”
It added that, “The termination of Aminu Abdullahi from the service was as a result of negligence while carrying out an assigned duty of driving.”
According to the statement, “The misconduct contradict Rules 0312 and Rules 0327 of the Bauchi State Public Service Regulations.”
The CSC stressed that, “Aminu, a Clerical Assistant on grade level 3 working with the State Ministry of Higher Education was assigned to perform what is called “Any Other Duty” and directed to drive a team of Journalists covering the activities of the North East Development Commission during its commissioning exercise of some projects in Alkaleri Local Government Area of the State.”
“Aminu, who was accused of reckless driving, caused accident involving more than 10 Journalists, as a result, 2 persons lost their lives, others sustained varying degree of injuries,” It stated.
The swift action taken by the Commission against the offender followed recommendations from the Ministry of Higher Education and the State Executive Council Resolutions of the disciplinary case.
Meanwhile the Commission query the management of the Ministry of Higher Education to explain why Clerical Assistant took the work of a Driver.
On another routine activities, the Commission considered the conversion of 10 Officers to other cadres.
These were Principal Livestock Superintendents on grade level 12 to Principal Livestock Officers, Chief Produce Inspector GL07 to Produce Superintendents, Chief Route Overseer GL07 to Livestock Superintendents, Chief Clerical Officer GL07 to Livestock Superintendent, all on their identical grades while Pre-Clinical Student on GL06 converted.
