Gubernatorial candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), in Gombe State, Dr. Jamil Isyaku Gwamna, has emphasised that elections should not be treated as a contest of hostility, but rather as a democratic process for selecting credible leaders capable of delivering on the expectations of the people.
Jamilu Isiyaku Gwamna made this known while receiving various youth groups on a solidarity visit in Gombe, to support his candidature under the APC.
During the visit, he reaffirmed his commitment to a peaceful, issue-based, and violence-free campaign ahead of the 2027 general elections.
He also assured that his campaign would strictly adhere to the provisions of the Electoral Act, noting that it would be conducted within the bounds of order, civility, and electoral integrity.
According to him, “My campaign will be guided by decency and respect for democratic principles.”
The APC candidate further pledged to consolidate on the achievements recorded under the administration of Governor Inuwa Yahaya, while introducing policies aimed at promoting sustainable development through significant investment in human capital.
Speaking on the party’s prospects, Jamilu Isiyaku Gwamna described the accomplishments of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Inuwa Yahaya as unprecedented, adding that they remain the party’s most compelling campaign assets.
He also urged youths in the state to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) in preparation for the elections, stressing the importance of active civic participation.
He however cautioned against any form of violence, reiterating that there is no place for violence in a democratic society.
Jamilu Isiyaku Gwamna called on candidates of other political parties to comply fully with the Electoral Act, emphasizing that the collective interest of Gombe State must take precedence over personal or partisan considerations.
