A teenager, 19-year old Aisha Musa, who got married 40 days ago, has been arrested by the Bauchi State Police Command, for allegedly attempting to kill her husband through poisoning his food in Gwamma Village, Bauchi Local Government Area.
The arrest was announced by the Command through the PPRO, SP Nafiu Habib, in a statement he made available to Journalists on Friday.
According to him, “On 12th August, 2026 at about 1515hrs, the suspect, who is said to be a bride of about 40 days, allegedly introduced a poisonous substance into her husband’s meal.”
He added that, “Subsequently, at about 1940hrs on the same day, a distress call was received from anonymous lady residing at Wunti Dada Area, Bauchi, reporting the incident to the Police.”
In a swift response, operatives of ‘C’ Division, Tafawa Balewa Estate mobilized to the scene and the victim was immediately evacuated and rushed to the
Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital, Bauchi, where he is currently receiving medical treatment and is reported to be in stable condition.
Furthermore, the suspect was promptly apprehended and during interrogation, she was cautioned and voluntarily made a confessional statement admitting to the commission of the offence.
In addition, an empty bottle suspected to contain poison and remnants of the food were recovered and duly registered as exhibits.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, has directed that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), for discreet and thorough investigation.
The suspect will be charged to court upon completion of investigation.
The Command therefore reiterated its unwavering commitment to the protection of lives and property, and to the enforcement of law and order across the State.
Members of the public are equally urged to remain vigilant and to report any suspicious activity to the nearest Police Station.
