2 suspected informants arrested by Bauchi Police in connection with recent Alkaleri attacks

Two suspected informants lead leading kidnappers to unsuspecting members of the public in Alkaleri LGA of Bauchi State have been arrested by the following recent kidnapping attacks.

The development was part of the ongoing efforts to combat kidnapping and other violent crimes within the State.

According to the Command PPRO, SP Nafiu Habib, in a statement made available to Journalists on Monday, on 31st July, 2026 at about 0500hrs, unknown armed men attacked the residence of a 46-years-old man, of Gwanar Dutse Village, Gwana District, Alkaleri LGA with the intent of kidnapping him.

During the incident, the victim sustained gunshot injuries to his right thigh while attempting to escape.

Thereafter, he was promptly evacuated to General Hospital, Kashere where he is currently receiving treatment and responding positively to treatment.

In line with the Command’s commitment to justice and intelligence-led operation, personnels attached to Gobirawo Out-Station, led by the officer-in-charge apprehended two suspects in connection with the attack on 2nd August, 2026 at about 1528hrs.

The suspects arrested are Idi Riga, aged 18 of Gwanar Dutse Village and Murtala Sani aged 22, of Rifta Unguwan Jauro Musa, Gobirawo Ward .

Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspects voluntarily confessed to have acted as informants to the perpetrators of the attack.

The suspects are in Police custody and the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) Bauchi for discreet and thorough investigation with a view to prosecution.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, reassured residents of the State of the Command’s resolve to rid the state of criminal elements.

Furthermore, he urged members of the public to remain vigilant and continue to provide timely and credible information to the Police.
