CSACEFA Commends Misilli Foundation For Enrolling Out-of-School Children

By Abubakar Rabilu, Gombe

The Civil Society Action Coalition on Education for All (CSACEFA), Gombe State chapter, has commended the Misilli Community Development Foundation for its efforts to enrol out-of-school children and support access to education.

The State Coordinator of CSACEFA, Hajiya Halima Ahmed Mahdi, gave the commendation in an interview with our reporter in Gombe during the marking the foundation’s fourth anniversary in Dawaki Quarters, Gombe.

Mahdi said the foundation’s intervention was contributing to efforts to reduce the number of out-of-school children in the state and improve access to education, particularly for children from vulnerable backgrounds.

She said CSACEFA would continue to work with the government, individuals, civil society organisations and other stakeholders to promote education and ensure that children who face barriers to schooling are given the opportunity to learn.

According to her, interventions such as school enrolment, provision of learning materials, scholarships and mentorship are essential in addressing the challenges confronting children who are out of school.

“Education is the backbone of every society. We therefore commend individuals and organisations that are contributing towards reducing the number of out-of-school children through enrolment, provision of learning materials, scholarships and mentoring,” Mahdi said.

She specifically commended the Isma’ila Uba Misilli for supporting the enrolment of children in schools, describing the initiative as a valuable contribution to the development of the education sector.

Mahdi urged other individuals, organisations and philanthropists to emulate the foundation by investing in education and supporting children from disadvantaged backgrounds.

She stressed that addressing the challenge of out-of-school children required a collective effort involving government, parents, communities, civil society organisations and the private sector.

The CSACEFA coordinator also disclosed that the organisation conducted its election on September 10, 2026, with all five positions returned unopposed.

She said she was re-elected as State Coordinator, while Barde Salihu emerged as Secretary; Abubakar Umar Aliyu as Provost; Pononyamba Ishaku Garba as Financial Secretary; and Adamu Alhaji Abubakar as Public Relations Officer.

Mahdi said the new executive would strengthen collaboration with relevant stakeholders to promote access to quality education and support initiatives aimed at improving the educational opportunities of children across the state.

She also called for greater emphasis on peace education, particularly among children and young people, saying peaceful coexistence was essential for sustainable development.

She urged parents, teachers and community leaders to teach children tolerance, dialogue and respect for others, stressing that building a peaceful and educated society was a collective responsibility.
