The Secretary of the Patent and Proprietary Medicine Dealers Association in Gombe State, Alhaji Naziru Bala, has urged traders to be honest, trustworthy and considerate in their dealings with customers.
He also called on traders to reduce the prices of their goods, saying affordable prices would stimulate commercial activities and contribute to the economic growth of Gombe State and Nigeria as a whole.
Naziru made the call n Gombe said Gombe State had made significant progress in commercial activities compared with many other states, attributing the development partly to the peaceful environment and growing business activities in the state.
The association’s secretary explained that patent medicine dealers in Gombe source their products from China and other countries, noting that fluctuations in the cost of importing goods had implications for prices in the local market.
He, however, appealed to traders to consider the plight of consumers by avoiding excessive profit margins and ensuring that essential goods remained affordable.
Naziru also called on the Federal Government, under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to review and reduce taxes, levies and other charges imposed on businesses across the country.
According to him, reducing the burden on businesses would help traders lower the prices of their goods and services, thereby easing the financial pressure on consumers.
He commended the Gombe State Governor, Alhaji Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, for his efforts to maintain peace and security in the state, describing the peaceful atmosphere as important to the growth of commerce and investment.
Naziru concluded by praying for continued peace, prosperity and success for Gombe State and Nigeria.
