Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, on Thursday, made a remarkable appearance as he attended the National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of the Allied People’s Movement (APM), the development signaled the consolidation of a powerful new political force within the party.
The crucial meeting, was presided over by the National Chairman of the APM, Yusuf Mamman Dantalle, bringing together top-ranking party leaders, strategic stakeholders, and influential political actors from across the country to deliberate on pressing national issues and the future direction of the party.
Bala Mohammed used the occasion to formally introduce himself and his political structure to the national leadership of the APM following his recent political realignment.
His presence at the NEC meeting immediately attracted national attention, with many party faithful describing it as a major boost to the growing strength and credibility of the APM ahead of future electoral contests.
Addressing party leaders during the session, the Governor spoke extensively on the deteriorating state of democratic values in the country, lamenting what he described as increasing political suppression, intimidation, and the shrinking space for credible opposition politics.
According to him, the present realities in Nigeria require courageous leaders and progressive-minded citizens to unite under a platform capable of defending justice, fairness, inclusiveness, and constitutional democracy.
The Governor disclosed that after extensive nationwide consultations with political associates, community leaders, elected officials, and grassroots supporters, the APM emerged as the most suitable political platform with the ideological strength and national outlook needed to reposition Nigeria’s democratic future.
He emphasized that the party’s commitment to internal democracy, accountability, good governance, equity, and respect for the rule of law strongly reflects the values and principles he has consistently championed throughout his political career.
The Governor further revealed that his movement into the APM is accompanied by a formidable political structure cutting across all levels of governance in Bauchi State.
He noted that members of the National Assembly, lawmakers in the Bauchi State House of Assembly, Local Government Chairpersons, Commissioners, Political Appointees, Ward Executives, Youths mobilizers, Women groups, and thousands of loyal supporters have all aligned with the movement in a united effort to strengthen the party nationally.
Describing the development as far beyond an ordinary political defection, Governor Bala Mohammed characterized it as a strategic coalition of progressive forces determined to reshape Nigeria’s political future and provide citizens with responsible and people-oriented leadership.
As the gathering drew to a close, the governor further energized party supporters by officially obtaining his nomination form to contest for the Senate seat representing Bauchi South Senatorial District under the platform of the APM, setting the stage for what is expected to become one of the most closely watched political contests in the country.
