The newly elected member of the House of Representatives for Gombe/Kwami/Funakaye Federal Constituency, Engr. Usman Maijama’a Kallamu, has pledged to use his remaining months in the National Assembly to pursue development projects and programmes that will directly benefit his constituents.
Kallamu made the pledge after emerging victorious in the September 19 bye-election conducted to fill the vacant seat representing the constituency.
He said his immediate focus would be on providing effective representation and attracting projects capable of addressing the pressing developmental needs of communities across Gombe, Kwami and Funakaye local government areas.
“I will use the remaining period of my tenure to pursue projects and programmes that will bring development closer to the people. My priority is effective representation and ensuring that the people feel the impact of their mandate,” he said.
The lawmaker-elect said he would collaborate with relevant government agencies, stakeholders and community leaders to facilitate projects and interventions that would improve the lives of residents of the constituency.
He also appealed to the people of the three local government areas to remain united, assuring them that he would make their interests the focus of his representation.
Kallamu described his victory as a collective achievement, expressing appreciation to the electorate for entrusting him with their mandate.
He also thanked Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya and leaders and stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for their support, while commending party members, campaign teams, traditional rulers, community leaders and other supporters for their contributions to the electoral victory.
The new lawmaker assured his constituents that he would remain accessible and committed to representing them effectively, promising to justify the confidence they reposed in him.
Kallamu won the September 19 bye-election held to fill the vacant seat following the death of the former member representing the constituency, Hon. Yaya Bauchi Tongo.
