Niger Council empowers girls, trains them on tailoring skill

The Chairman of Chanchaga Local Government Council of Niger State, Dr. Mustapha Jibril Alheri, has empowered young girls with tailoring and fashion design skills to foster self-reliance and sustainable livelihoods in the community.

The beneficiaries underwent intensive training under the Alheri for Bago Neighbourhood Women Empowerment Initiatives, themed “Empowering the Girl Child to Be Self-Reliant.”
Speaking at the graduation ceremony, Dr. Alheri explained that the programme was designed to equip young girls with practical vocational skills that would enable them to become economically independent, support their families, and contribute meaningfully to community development.
Representing the Chairman at the event, the Secretary of Chanchaga Local Government Council, Hon. Mohammed Babadoko Tako, described the initiative as part of ongoing efforts to create opportunities for young people through skills acquisition.
Babadoko commended the beneficiaries for their dedication and successful completion of the training, urging them to put their skills to effective use by establishing and growing their businesses.
He also thanked members of the public for their support and participation, noting that their presence added significance to the ceremony.
The Council Secretary further lauded Dr. Alheri’s commitment to empowering young girls, calling the initiative a practical step towards promoting economic independence among women and youths.
He equally praised Niger State Governor, Farmer Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago, for prioritising skills acquisition and empowerment as part of his administration’s development agenda.
Congratulating the graduands, Babadoko encouraged them to remain focused, grow their businesses, and serve as role models to other young girls in their communities.
He prayed for Allah’s/ God ‘s blessings on their newly acquired skills and expressed optimism that the training would mark the beginning of a successful and self-reliant future for the beneficiaries.
