The Niger State Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Hon. Ladidi Rakiya Bawa Bosso, alongside the Permanent Secretary, led a delegation to a courtesy and strategic engagement with the Director-General of Nigerian Tourism Development Authority, Dr. Olayiwola Awakan, in Abuja.
The meeting focused on strengthening collaboration in the areas of cultural heritage preservation and tourism development, with particular emphasis on leveraging arts and culture as drivers of economic growth, job creation, and sustainable livelihoods.
Discussions in the meeting aligned with the vision of the State Governor Mohammed Umar Bago to reposition and upgrade the State’s tourism assets in line with national development priorities.

In the statement, Dr. Awakan welcomed the Niger State delegation and commended the proactive approach of the state government in promoting its cultural heritage.
He assured the delegation of the Council’s readiness to support Niger State’s cultural and tourism development initiatives, noting that strategic partnerships would help unlock the state’s vast cultural potential and enhance its visibility on the national and international tourism map.
The engagement also highlighted Niger State’s rich and diverse cultural assets, while exploring practical frameworks for joint programmes, cultural exchanges, and initiatives aimed at stimulating local economies and strengthening community participation.
Meanwhile,the visit reaffirms Niger State Government’s commitment to harnessing arts and culture as key pillars for inclusive growth, cultural preservation, and sustainable development.
