The Niger State Government has reiterated its commitment to fostering a business-friendly environment that attracts investments and drives sustainable economic growth, as Zenith Bank Plc officially commissioned its third branch in Minna today, the State capital.
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony on behalf of the Executive Governor of Niger State, Mohammed Umaru Bago, the Secretary to Niger State Government (SSG), Alhaji Abubakar Usman, described the new branch as a testament to the Bank’s confidence in the economic potential of Niger State.
The Governor congratulated the Board, Management, Staff and customers of Zenith Bank on the milestone, noting that the establishment of the new branch “is a strong demonstration of the Bank’s confidence in the economic potential of Niger State and its commitment to supporting the growth of our financial sector.”
He stated that the commissioning of the branch goes beyond expanding banking services, emphasizing that “it is a vote of confidence in the remarkable progress our State is making under the New Niger Agenda. It reflects the growing attractiveness of Niger State as a preferred destination for investment, commerce and enterprise.”
Governor Bago reaffirmed his administration’s determination to create an enabling environment for businesses to flourish through sustained investments in critical sectors.
“Our administration remains committed to creating an enabling environment for businesses to thrive through strategic investments in infrastructure, security, agriculture, urban renewal, digital transformation and ease of doing business. We believe that a vibrant financial sector is indispensable to achieving sustainable economic growth, financial inclusion and job creation,” the Governor said.
He commended Zenith Bank for its reputation as one of Nigeria’s leading financial institutions, renowned for innovation, excellence and sound corporate governance, while appreciating the Bank’s contributions to the nation’s economy and its support for businesses, entrepreneurs and individuals.
The Governor further encouraged Zenith Bank to strengthen its collaboration with the Niger State Government by advancing financial inclusion, supporting Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), empowering youths and women entrepreneurs, and providing innovative financial solutions capable of accelerating the socio-economic transformation of the State.
Addressing residents and the business community, Governor Bago urged them to maximize the opportunities presented by the new branch.
“I urge you to take advantage of the opportunities this new branch offers to expand your businesses, embrace digital banking solutions and participate actively in the formal economy,” he said.
He assured investors and financial institutions that the Niger State government remains open to strategic partnerships that will unlock the State’s enormous economic potential and improve the quality of life of its citizens.
Earlier, the Zonal Head of Zenith Bank, Alhaji Abdulsalam Hassan, reaffirmed the Bank’s commitment to delivering innovative, customer-focused banking services to the people of Niger State.
He said the Bank’s guiding philosophy remains people-focused and expressed optimism that the new branch would enjoy widespread patronage from residents and businesses across the State.
Meanwhile,the commissioning ceremony was attended by the Accountant General of Niger State, Alhaji Saidu Abdullahi, the Permanent Secretary State Ministry of Finance Ibrahim D. Abubakar, the Permanent Secretary, Economic Affairs, Mrs. Hauwa Dickson, the Permanent Secretary, Political Affairs, ESV James T. Bake, alongside other senior government officials, members of the Bank’s management, business leaders and distinguished guests.
