A former Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Isa Pantami, has emphasised the continued importance of technology in driving governance and national development.
He made this known in an interview with newsmen in Gombe yesterday, shortly after the unveiling of a compendium of more than 241 completed projects, noting that the document reflects years of effort in public service.
Pantami stated that technology remains critical in addressing pressing national challenges, including insecurity, unemployment and access to quality education, stressing that digital solutions can improve efficiency and expand opportunities across sectors.
He explained that key initiatives under his leadership prioritised areas such as artificial intelligence, cybersecurity and digital infrastructure, with the aim of strengthening the economy and creating opportunities for young Nigerians.
“My focus has always been on using technology to solve real problems. The results are there to show what can be achieved when innovation guides policy,” he said.
Pantami added that his years in public service demonstrate how digital innovation can be applied to tackle real challenges and improve service delivery across sectors.
He also highlighted the importance of inclusiveness, noting that projects were spread across the country to ensure that the benefits of digital development reached all regions.
According to him, more than 4,600 projects, programmes and policies were implemented during his tenure, alongside over 241 initiatives in Gombe State, many of which were rooted in digital transformation.
The former minister further stressed the need for sustained investment in digital skills and infrastructure, noting that this would be essential for Nigeria’s competitiveness in a rapidly evolving global economy.
He reaffirmed his commitment to advancing policies that prioritise innovation, describing technology as a foundation for effective governance and national progress.
On his intention to contest for governorship, he said his track record in public service would speak for him.
