Chairman of the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in Bogoro LGA of Bauchi State, Hon Amos Faruk has decried the spate of decamping by politicians in the country from one political party to the other, especially elected officials saying that it is not a healthy development for democracy.

The Chairman also declared that the PDP is bigger than an individual to muzzle and kill, no matter his status.

He made the declaration on Friday while addressing leaders of the party from the Wards across the LGA as well as other supporters who escorted a 2027 Aspirant for the State House of Assembly seat, Ishaku Madaki, at the Secretariat of the party in solidarity.

He stressed that, “No one individual cannot kill the PDP because it is far above such a person. The PDP remains the only formidable political party in Nigeria since 1998 when party politics returned to the country.”

Amos Faruk added that, “If you take stock, you will discover that PDP remains intact and stronger in spite of the turbulent it passed through. It has never shifted stance since it was formed, many people have gone out of it and came back.”

The Chairman added that, “In Bogoro, the PDP is far ahead of other political parties, it has the largest membership and followership, it is loved by all, admired by all and supported by all.”

“We have been here since 1998, we have never moved an inch to any other political party, even when we were out of power. Thanks to God, we have remained in power since 2019 and we are going to remain here.”

Speaking on the 2027 general elections, he expressed optimism that the PDP will definitely have candidates in the various elective positions in the LGA, the State and the country as a whole.

According to him,”The PDP remains intact and the party to beat in 2027. We will field candidates from the State to the Federal level and we will emerge victorious by the grace of God.”

He told all aspirants to go ahead and express their interests assuring that the PDP will be fair and just in ensuring that only the best among them emerged candidates stressing however that it must be the collective wishes of the majority.

He stated that, “Everything has a time and opportunity can come to anyone at the appropriate time. We should join hands together, elect the best among the aspirants for the good of the LGA.”

The Chairman however warned against politics of bitterness and thurggry, he assured that any Aspirant who engaged in such acts will not have support of the PDP no matter his or her status.

He called on the Aspirants to talk to their supporters not to hear up the polity in the area as according to him, “It is not yet time for campaigns, just go silently to mobilize your support and wait for official declaration of campaigns by the concerned authorities.”

The Chairman also commended Bauchi State Governor, Sen Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, for his leadership of the PDP, describing him as the backbone of the party in the country in spite of stern opposition, persecution and intimidation by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
