The Senator currently representing Bauchi South Senatorial District at the Senate, Shehu Buba Umar, has emerged the gubernatorial candidate of the People’s Redemption Party (PRP), for the 2027 general election in the State.
He was elected on Monday, as the 2027 gubernatorial candidate of the party, few days after he joined the party having left the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), under protest as he withdrew from the gubernatorial contest of the party.
The primary election of the PRP, was conducted through voice affirmation during a special delegates congress during which other candidates for the various elective offices were affirmed.
The primary election was conducted and supervised by National Vice Chairman, North of the party, Haruna Buhari, who declared all the aspirants winners through voice votes affirmation.
According to him, “Sen Shehu Buba Umar, having fulfilled all requirements of the law and constitution of the PRP and the electoral guidelines, I, Haruna Buhari, hereby declare Sen Shehu Buba Umar as the duly elected gubernatorial candidate of the PRP for the 2027 general election.”
The National Vice Chairman congratulated the gubernatorial candidate stressing that he was the right choice for the party as he has the capability to win elections at any time.
State Chairman of the party, Abdulraham Muazu, in his opening remarks, stated that the party is positioned to spring surprises in the 2027 general elections in the State.
The Chairman stressed that the PRP was lucky to have Sen Shehu Buba Umar as its gubernatorial candidate considering his political acumen and dexterity as a serving Senator.
He added that though it was not yet time for electioneering campaign, the party is ready to face the electorate in Bauchi State for votes in the 2027 general election.
In his acceptance speech, the gubernatorial candidate thanked the PRP for giving him the platforms to aspire for the seat of the Governor come 2027.
He announced that he has collapsed his entire political structure into the PRP having obtained the full membership from his ward in Toro LGA.
The gubernatorial candidate expressed optimism that with the backing and support of the card carrying members of the PRP coupled with the teeming support of other well wishers from across the State, he will win the gubernatorial election.
Shehu Buba Umar also used the occasion to call on youths and women, members of the party to immediately swing into action by embarking on door to door enlightenment and educate people on the ideals of the PRP.
During the Congress, the Committee Chairman presented all the Thirty-One candidates for the State House of Assembly who were affirmed one after the other by the delegates.
