Gombe ADC Candidate Offers Free Fuel

By Abubakar Rabilu, Gombe

The governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Gombe State, Bala Bello Tinka, has offered free fuel to commercial motorcycle and tricycle operators to ease the economic hardship facing residents.

The initiative, which took place on October 1 from 6am to 6pm at selected filling stations in Gombe metropolis, was organised to mark Nigeria’s 66th Independence Anniversary.

Tinka announced the gesture during an interview with a local radio station monitored by our correspondent, saying it was aimed at cushioning the impact of fuel subsidy removal on commercial transport operators.

He described the initiative as his contribution towards reducing the burden of rising fuel costs on the people.

The candidate promised to sustain the free-fuel scheme for motorcycle and tricycle operators if elected governor in the 2027 general election.

Tinka also pledged to provide free healthcare services for children under five and elderly people above 70 years.

“No child should die because the parents cannot afford hospital bills, and no old person should be left to die,” he said.

On agriculture, he promised to prioritise local fertiliser dealers in government procurement, arguing that the policy would keep public funds within the state, strengthen local businesses and create jobs.

He also pledged to patronise indigenous contractors for government projects, saying external contractors would only be engaged when the required technical expertise was unavailable locally.

On the persistent water scarcity in Gombe metropolis and other parts of the state, Tinka promised to commission a comprehensive study to identify the root causes and develop a lasting solution.

He said his proposed administration would prioritise the welfare of ordinary citizens and ensure inclusive governance.

The ADC candidate urged residents to support his party in the 2027 general election, describing his proposals as part of his plans to address the state’s socioeconomic challenges.
