Niger Speaker condemns terrorists attack on Borgu Communities

The Speaker of the Niger State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. (Barr.) Abdulmalik Mohammed Sarkin-Daji, has strongly condemned the recent terrorist attack on communities in Borgu Local Government Area Of Niger State , describing it as a “cruel act” that defies the values of peace and unity cherished by the people of the State.

In a statement issued on Sunday, Sarkin-Daji expressed deep sorrow over the incident, which occurred at Kasuwan Daji Market in Sukumbara Village.

He extended heartfelt condolences to the victims and their families, noting that both Muslims and Christians from various communities in Borgu were affected.

“This attack is a cruel act that runs contrary to the values of peace, unity and peaceful coexistence cherished by the people of Niger State,” the Speaker said.

He emphasized that such acts of violence must not be allowed to divide the people or weaken their collective resolve in the fight against insecurity.

Sarkin-Daji called for calm among residents of the affected communities, assuring them that the Niger State Government is collaborating with the Federal Government and security agencies to rescue kidnapped victims and bring the perpetrators to justice.

He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property across the state, and prayed for the speedy recovery of those injured in the attack.

The Speaker also urged residents to continue supporting government efforts aimed at combating terrorism and other criminal activities, stressing the importance of unity in overcoming the threat of insecurity.
