Niger SSG restates government’s commitment accessible clean water

The Secretary to Nger State Government (SSG) Alhaji Abubakar Usman, has reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to expanding access to clean and safe water through strategic partnerships.

Alhaji Usman’s remarks followed a high-level meeting between the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation Services and Shaaxi Construction Engineering Nigeria Limited.
The engagement, held under the supervision of the SSG, underscores the government’s proactive efforts to tackle water supply challenges and strengthen infrastructure development across the state.
In his remarks, the Commissioner for Water Resources, Engr. Faruk Umar Audi, emphasized the importance of technical collaboration in delivering sustainable water solutions.
He noted that the ministry is backed by experienced professionals capable of driving impactful and long-term interventions in the sector.
Speaking on behalf of Shaaxi Construction Engineering Nigeria Limited, the leader of the delegation, Ms. Sasha Chang, expressed the firm’s readiness to partner with the state government in executing key water infrastructure projects.
The meeting provided a platform for in-depth discussions on technical strategies to improve water supply, particularly in rural and underserved communities.
As part of the next steps, both parties are expected to embark on joint inspection visits to proposed project sites to evaluate existing conditions and ensure effective planning and implementation.
The initiative also highlights the coordinating role of the SSG in fostering inter-agency collaboration and attracting credible partners to support the state’s development agenda in the water sector.
The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Alhaji Akilu Musa Kuta, alongside other key officials from the ministry and the SSG’s office, attended the meeting.
