Residents of Gbeganu, Nykankpe, Shanu, Marikici, and Gidan Mangoro have again expressed worry over the high rate of Fulani influx in to the communities in their numbers for settlement.
The said fulanis’ who are migrants from other parts of the country were brought into the areas in trailer trucks with hundreds of bags of food stuffs alongside their children, women and elderly people to these various communities in Minna, the Niger state capital.
According to findings, just five days ago the said migrants have purchased houses worth several millions of naira in different areas within the communities pursuing insecurity and fear of the unknown among the residents.
A resident, Malam Tanko Kasim in an interview with our reporter, said that they are currently living in fear considering the number of these people coming into the area, adding that their coming looks suspicious, stressing that it is the responsibility of the governments and security agencies to do the needful.
Another resident Alhaji Aminu Yusuf lamented that no rightful thinking person will be comfortable with what is going on, calling on the ministry of health and Niger State environmental agency to urgently visit the vicinity to assess the environmental situation on how their population has caused palpable outbreak of diseases.
The residents have called on the Niger State government and security agencies especially the police and State Security Service to as a matter of urgency swing into action to ensure proper profiling of the migrants for proper documentation and prompt dictation of dangerous weapons suspected to be in their positions.
When contacted, the community head of Gbeganu, Malam Aliyu Usman denied being aware of their coming, noting that they tried to stop them and reported the matter to Kpakungu police station and had been invited to the SCID Minna together with the migrants as they promised to profile them accordingly.
The Mai-Angwa revealed that some of them claimed to be coming from Babana areas of Borgu local government where they have been attacked consistently hence the need to look for a safety areas to migrate to, while also blaming some agents who are just interested in what they will get from buying and selling of houses to strangers they don’t know.
