The Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Professor Muhammad Ali Pate, has expressed profound grief over the demise of Alhaji Audu Sule Katagum, the Wazirin Katagum and former Deputy Governor of Bauchi State.
Ali Pate described the late elder statesman as a remarkable leader whose lifetime was devoted to public service, community development, and the advancement of peace and unity within Bauchi State and beyond.
He noted that the passing of Alhaji Audu Sule Katagum is not only a great loss to the Katagum Emirate but also to Bauchi State and Nigeria as a whole.
According to Professor Ali Pate, the late Wazirin Katagum distinguished himself through his integrity, wisdom, humility, and unwavering commitment to the welfare of the people.
According to him, “Throughout his distinguished career in public service, he provided exemplary leadership and left behind a legacy of dedication, patriotism, and selfless service that will continue to inspire future generations.”
The Coordinating Minister further stated that Alhaji Audu Sule Katagum’s contributions to governance, traditional institutions, and societal development earned him widespread respect and admiration across all segments of society.
While praying Almighty Allah (SWT) to forgive his shortcomings, grant him Aljannatul Firdaus, and comfort his family during this difficult period, Professor Ali Pate extended his heartfelt condolences to the Katagum Emirate Council, the immediate family of the deceased, the Government and people of Bauchi State, and all those mourning this painful loss.
The Minister urged family members, associates, and admirers of the late Wazirin Katagum to take solace in the impactful and exemplary life he lived in service to humanity.

In the same vein, Dr. Bala Maijama’a Wunti has expressed profound sorrow over the passing of the Wazirin Katagum and former Deputy Governor of Bauchi State, Arch. Audu Sule Katagum, describing his death as a monumental loss to the Katagum Emirate, Bauchi State, and Nigeria at large.
In a statement issued by the Chief Communication Officer of the Bala Wunti Support Organisation, Abubakar Al-Sadique, Bala Wunti stated that he received the news of the elder statesman’s demise with deep shock and sadness.
According to him, the late Arch. Audu Sule Katagum lived an exemplary life marked by selfless service, integrity, and genuine commitment to the development of Bauchi State and the wellbeing of its people.
He recalled the invaluable contributions made by the deceased in various capacities—as a successful private contractor, a distinguished public servant, a former Deputy Governor, and a revered traditional titleholder whose last assignment was serving as the Wazirin Katagum, one of the most senior and respected members of the Katagum Emirate Council.
According to him, “The passing of Arch. Audu Sule Katagum is a painful loss to all of us. He was a man of honour, wisdom, and uncommon dedication to public service. Throughout his lifetime, he devoted himself to the progress of Bauchi State and the advancement of his community.”
“As a former Deputy Governor, accomplished professional, and respected traditional leader, he distinguished himself through humility, patriotism, and a genuine concern for the welfare of the people. His counsel was always invaluable, and his leadership style inspired many,” he added.
Bala Wunti further stated that, “The vacuum created by his departure will be difficult to fill. The Katagum Emirate has lost a pillar, Bauchi State has lost one of its finest sons, and Nigeria has lost a statesman whose legacy of service will continue to inspire future generations.”
“On behalf of my family, political associates, and supporters, I extend my heartfelt condolences to the immediate family of the deceased, the Emir of Katagum and the entire Emirate Council, the government and people of Bauchi State. I pray that Almighty Allah (SWT) forgives his shortcomings, grants him Aljannatul Firdaus, and gives his loved ones the strength to bear this irreparable loss,” Bala Wunti added.
Also, the Former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, has received with profound sadness the news of the passing of Alhaji Audu Sule Katagum, Wazirin Katagum and former Deputy Governor of Bauchi State.
Ambassador Tuggar described the late statesman as a respected elder, trusted leader, and devoted son of Katagum whose wisdom, humility, and unwavering service touched countless lives.
“Today, Bauchi State and the Katagum Emirate have lost one of their finest sons. His counsel, kindness, and commitment to the welfare of his people will be sorely missed,” he said.
Amb Tuggar extended his deepest condolences to the Emir of Katagum, the Katagum Emirate Council, the family of the deceased, and the people of Bauchi State.
