A naming ceremony in Dosi village, Bara District of Kirfi LGA of Bauchi, turned sour leading to the death of one Sani Abacha Alhaji Jabbi, 27 years old.
Consequently, the State Police Command has arrested three suspects in connection with the case of criminal conspiracy, disturbance of public peace, and culpable homicide that occurred during the naming ceremony.
The Command made the confirmation in a Press statement issued and made available to Journalists on Wednesday by the PPRO, SP Nafiu Habib.
He stared tha, “Based on information received at Kirfi Division from the Officer in Charge of Bara Police Outpost, on 1st July, 2026 at about 1000hrs, an 80-year-old man, resident of Dosi Hamlet, reported that, on 30th June, 2026, he lodged a complaint regarding an incident that occurred on 25th June, 2026 at about 1830hrs.”
It was reported that during a naming ceremony at Dosi Hamlet, youths from Tudun Sullubawa Hamlet had a misunderstanding with youths of Dosi Hamlet.
In the process, one Sani Abacha Alhaji Jabbi, male, 27-years-old of Dosi Hamlet was violently attacked with cutlasses by youths from Tudun Sullubawa Hamlet.
Though the victim was rushed to the Federal Medical Centre, Gombe in Gombe State, for medical treatment, he was later certified dead by a Medical Doctor.
Subsequently, Police operatives visited the scene and photographs were taken for record purposes while Three suspects from Tudun Sullubawa Hamlet were covertly traced and arrested in connection with the crime.
They are: Kano Alhaji Malam, 18-years-old, Ali Alhaji Malam, 17-years-old, and Shehu Alhaji Malam, 16-years-old.
Meanwhile, the corpse of the deceased had been buried by his relatives in accordance with Islamic rites.
The PPRO added that furthermore, investigation was concluded at preliminary stage and the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, (SCID) Bauchi, for more detailed investigation and prosecution.
The Commissioner of Police, Bauchi State Command, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, has condemned the act and warned against the use of violence to settle disputes during social gatherings.
He called on community and youth leaders to promote dialogue and peaceful coexistence for a safer Bauchi State.
