The Niger State Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NCCIMA) and the Niger State Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening collaboration aimed at promoting investment, industrialisation, trade and sustainable economic development across the state.
The commitment was made during a strategic meeting between the leadership of the Chamber and the management of the Ministry held at the Ministry’s headquarters in Minna. This is contained in a statement issued by the Information Officer of the State Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment,Ismaila Musa and made available to Journalists on Tuesday in Minna
The Honourable Commissioner for Industry, Trade and Investment, Alhaji Aminu Suleman Takuma, was represented by the Permanent Secretary, Mrs. Helen William Umaru, who presided over the meeting.
She conveyed the Commissioner’s appreciation to the leadership of the Chamber and assured them of the Ministry’s unwavering support for all programmes and initiatives geared towards enhancing the state’s economic prosperity.
Mrs. Umaru emphasized that the Ministry remains committed to fostering a robust partnership with the Chamber to attract investments, promote entrepreneurship, facilitate industrial growth and create employment opportunities for the people of Niger State in line with Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago’s New Niger Agenda.
Earlier, the President of NCCIMA, Alhaji Suleiman Abdul Liman, expressed profound appreciation to the Hon. Commissioner, the Permanent Secretary, Directors and the entire management of the Ministry for the invaluable support and cooperation extended to the Chamber during the recently concluded Niger State Trade Fair.
He noted that the Ministry’s unwavering support contributed significantly to the remarkable success of the Trade Fair, which attracted investors and business stakeholders from within and outside the state.
According to him, the event further showcased Niger State as an attractive investment destination.
The Chamber President disclosed that the Dangote Group indicated interest in investing in Niger State after identifying the state’s abundant raw materials, favourable business environment and enormous investment opportunities.
Alhaji Abdul Liman also reminded the Ministry of some of the Chamber’s requests presented during previous engagements.
These include the inclusion of NCCIMA in the Ministry’s investment promotion tours, the institutionalisation of a quarterly Agricultural Products Trade Fair, and facilitating an audience between members of the Chamber and the Executive Governor of Niger State to discuss strategies for accelerating economic growth and private sector development.
As part of its commitment to environmental sustainability, the Chamber unveiled plans to embark on a statewide tree-planting campaign to combat deforestation and improve the ecosystem.
He disclosed that preparations have reached an advanced stage to distribute 40,000 tree seedlings to each of the 25 Local Government Areas of Niger State.
Meanwhile, the meeting ended with both parties reaffirming their determination to strengthen collaboration in promoting commerce, industry, agriculture and investment, with a shared commitment to advancing the socio-economic development of Niger State.
