Bauchi constitutes Visitation Panels for Tatari Ali Poly, Aminu Sale College of Education

Bauchi State Government  has constituted an independent Visitation Panels for the Abubakar Tatari Ali Polytechnic (ATAP), Bauchi and Aminu Sale College of Education, Azare, as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen governance, accountability, academic standards and institutional development in the State higher educational institutions.
The constitution of the Panels, approved by  Governor  and Visitor to the two Institutions  was aimed at providing a comprehensive and objective assessment of the institutions’ administration, academic programmes, financial management, infrastructure, staff welfare and overall performance.
Abubakar Tatari Ali Polytechnic, established under Edict No. 1 of 1988, has played an important role in providing technical, vocational and technological education and in developing the skilled manpower required for the socio-economic development of Bauchi State and Nigeria.
The Visitation Panels are expected to undertake a thorough review of the affairs of the Polytechnic and College of Education and make recommendations that will further improve their effectiveness, efficiency, transparency and capacity to fulfil the statutory mandates as the work is intended to support the State Government’s commitment to transforming the education sector and ensuring that tertiary institutions in the state operate to the highest standards.
The Visitation Panels comprise of distinguished academics, public administrators and professionals with extensive experience in tertiary education, public finance, administration and governance.
The members for ATAP are: Prof. Abdulrahman Saminu Ibrahim — Former Vice-Chancellor, Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU) — Chairman, members are Prof. Muazu Saidu Badara — Department of Accounting, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, and former Lecturer, ATAP, Prof. Isa Mohammed — Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi,  Barr. Abdulhamid Abubakar Bununu — Special Adviser on Multilateral Affairs and former Head of Administration/Head of Department, Ministry of Justice, Abdon Dalla Gin — Special Adviser on Civil Service and former Head of Service, Aliyu Abdullahi Dambam — Former Auditor-General and Deputy Accountant-General while
Director, Tertiary Education, Ministry of Higher Education will serve as Secretary.
The constitution of the Panel for the College of Education, became particularly important following the approval of the Dual Mandate System for the College, which empowers the institution to run both Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE) and degree programmes.
The exercise will, among other things, assess the College’s institutional readiness, infrastructure, human-resource capacity and academic systems to effectively discharge its expanded mandate.
The Panel comprises of Prof. Muhammad Ahmad Abdulaziz – Former Vice-Chancellor, Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU), Bauchi as chairman Chairman while the members are: Prof. Demo Kalla – Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi, Dr. (Arc.) Habu Yusuf Abba – Saadu Zungur University/Former Head, Public Works Department, ATBU, Hon. Usman Danturaki – Special Adviser on Labour Matters — Member, Barr. M. U. Usman – Deputy Director, Ministry of Justice, Lawan Bello – Former Director, Office of the Accountant-General and  Director, Administration & Human Resources, Ministry of Higher Education aa  Secretary.
The calibre and diversity of the Panels membership reflect the State Government’s determination to ensure that the exercise was independent, professional, credible and comprehensive.
The Panels are expected to engage relevant stakeholders, including the Polytechnic’s management, academic and non-academic staff, students, governing structures and other stakeholders, before submitting its findings and recommendations to the Visitor.
Government urged the Governing Councils, Management, Staff, Students, Unions and other stakeholders of the two institutions  to extend their full cooperation to the Panels to enable them discharge their mandates successfully.
The Government remains committed to creating an enabling environment for tertiary institutions to deliver quality education, promote innovation and produce graduates equipped with the knowledge and skills required to contribute meaningfully to the development of the state and the nation.
The two visitation panels of Abubakar Tatari Ali Polytechnic , Bauchi and that of Aminu  Saleh College of Education, Azare will be inaugurated on Thursday, 20th August , 2026 at the Conference Hall , Deputy Governor’s Office , Government House , Bauchi by 2:00 pm as contained in a statement signed by Mukhtar Gidado, Special Adviser, Media and Publicity to the Governor.
