Sixty Education Secretaries, Heads of Planning, Research and Statistics (PRS) and ICT Desk Officers, (DOs) across the 20 LGAs of Bauchi State have commenced a 2-day capacity building training on modern digital applications for effective teaching.
The capacity building training was organized by the Bauchi State Universal Basic Education Board (BASUBEB) in collaboration with the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC), with facilitators drawn from two Colleges of Education.
The training with the theme: Digital Literacy for School and Education Leaders; Building 21st Century Skills for Effective Instruction, is aimed at updating the education stakeholders with the current methodology of imparting knowledge.
While declaring the training opened on Tuesday, the Chairman of BASUBEB, Alh Abubakar Isa Baba, stressed that, “This is a very important workshop. I must say that I have been very humbled and very happy for the turn out of participants for this workshop, this is very encouraging.”
He added that, “It will empower the knowledge of all our people that are running the education sector today, either in one way or the other. And I really appreciate the contribution of the State Government who have made this thing very possible.”
The Chairman added that, “I don’t have much to say but to wish everybody here that this training will go and will enrich all those that are here. I therefore officially open this particular workshop, and I wish you a very successful in it.”
Earlier in his welcome address, Director Physical Planning and Research of BASUBEB, Abdu Isiyaka, commended UBEC and BASUBEB for their additional leadership and continuous support towards the advancement of education.
According to him,”This workshop reflects their commitment to improving the quality of teaching and learning in our schools. We are confident that the knowledge and the skills you will acquire during this training will strengthen classroom instruction, improve learners’ engagement, and contribute to better learning outcomes across the board.”
The Director further said, “I therefore encourage you to participate actively and share your experiences and make the most of this opportunity. Once again, I welcome you all and wish us a successful and rewarding workshop. Thank you very much.”
Speaking on behalf of the participants, the Dean of ESs, Dr Nasiru Mohammed Panti, commended the organizers of the training which he said was long overdue considering the growing modern trend in education development.
He added that from the concept of the training, it will really expose them to the modern way of delivering quality teaching to the pupils at the basic level which will make the upper class more efficient and engaging.
Nasiru Mohammed Panti who is the Education Secretary of Toro LGA, assured that the participants will do a step down of the training when they get back to their various LGAs.
The training was facilitated by Dr Abimbola Nurudeen from Federal College of Education (Technical), Gombe and Dr Musa Tilde, of Aminu Sale College of Education, Azare.
