The National Safari Legal Advocacy Justice Reform Foundation of Nigeria, has appointed the Gombe State Commissioner for Local Government and Community Development, Barrister Sani Ahmed Haruna, as a Trustee.
The appointment was announced on Tuesday when a delegation of the Foundation paid a courtesy visit to the Commissioner at his office in Gombe.
The delegation, led by the Foundation’s National Chairman, Malam Alhussani Ibrahim, also congratulated Sani Haruna on his appointment and presented him with a gift in recognition of his contributions to justice, accountability and institutional reforms.
Responding, Sani Haruna thanked the foundation for the visit, congratulatory message and gift, and assured the delegation of the state government’s commitment to maintaining cordial relations among lawyers, the judiciary and other stakeholders in the justice sector.
The Commissioner, popularly known as Wakilin Arewa Gombe, urged the Foundation to prioritise legal reforms in the State, particularly the review and strengthening of laws governing local government administration.
He said effective legal reforms were essential to promoting good governance, accountability and sustainable community development.
Earlier, Alhussani Ibrahim said the delegation visited the commissioner to congratulate him and acknowledge his contributions to justice, accountability and institutional reforms.
He expressed confidence that Sani Haruna’s experience and knowledge would contribute to the foundation’s objectives and its efforts to advance reforms in the justice sector.
In his remarks, the Foundation’s Director of Administration and Finance, Malam Aliyu Hamza Abdulkadir, appreciated the commissioner for receiving the delegation.
He described the gift presented to Haruna as a symbol of goodwill and solidarity with the ministry.
