Some aggrieved members of the State Working Committee of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), have announced the purported immediate removal of the State Chairman, Abdulrahman Yusuf Muazu, citing, “gross misconduct, constitutional violations, and negligence of duty.”
The decision was made public during a press conference held at the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Secretariat in Bauchi by the group led by Ahmed Mohammed Bello, the party’s Majidadi A Ward Secretary.
According to a him,, “The ouster follows a May 11, 2026, recommendation by the party’s disciplinary committee, invoking Articles 6(a), 6(a)(ii), and 6(d) of the PRP”.
He added that, “The crisis peaked after Abdulraham Muazu allegedly by-passed party protocols to facilitate the defection of Senator Shehu Buba Umar from the All Progressives Congress (APC) and unilaterally declared him the PRP’s 2027 Bauchi governorship candidate”.
Ahmed Mohamed Bello added that, “The Committee found him guilty of disobeying the Executive and Committee and improperly delegating his official responsibilities to the National Publicity Secretary,” an action the Committee described as a breach of party procedures and harmful to internal cohesion.
“Effective immediately, Abdulrahman Muazu is barred from representing the PRP, using its insignia, or making public statements on behalf of the party,” he declared.
“The executive committee has unanimously appointed the State Youth Leader, Tijjani Abubakar Aliyu, to take over the interim leadership of the state chapter’ he said.
He said that the decision was reached after due consultation and in full compliance with constitutional procedures, reaffirming its commitment to discipline, accountability and internal democracy.
In his remarks, Acting Chairman Aliyu declared that the party would not recognise the controversial nominations put forward by Abdulkarim Muazu’s faction.
According to him, “We have had candidates for various positions for a long time, but we will not accept new entrants from the APC contesting under our platform without proper consultation with party leaders.”
Tijjani Abubakar Aliyu further assured members that the interim leadership would immediately begin consultations to review, determine, and ratify the legitimate candidates for the upcoming 2027 elections.
When contacted, Abdulrahman Yusuf Muazu, dismissed the development saying that due process was followed in all that transpired leading to the admittance of Sen Shehu Buba Umar into the PRP.
He stated that the National leadership of the PRP ensured that the defection of the Senator was properly done in accordance with the relevant laws and regulations.
According to him, it was the National Vice Chairman, North who chaired the Committee that screened and confirmed his nomination as the candidate of the PRP for the 2027 gubernatorial election in the State.
Another official of the party said that, “Yes, we heard them,” It’s just some noise makers that want attention by all means and it will be over soon”
The official added, “They are not even our members let alone being EXCOS. They are being sponsored to cause confusion”
