The Yobe State Police Command has emplaced comprehensive security measures and strategic deployment of personnel across the State ahead of the forthcoming Sallah festivities.
This is in collaboration with sister security agencies and other critical stakeholders to ensure adequate security coverage and strengthen proactive measures aimed at guaranteeing a peaceful celebration.
The security arrangements cover prayer grounds, event and gathering venues, children’s recreational centers, major public places, and other strategic locations across the State.
In addition, intensive patrols, stop-and-search operations, and enhanced visibility policing mechanisms have been activated to ensure public safety and maintain law and order throughout the festive period.
The Command also warned that any act capable of disrupting the peaceful atmosphere of the celebrations will be met with firm resistance through coordinated security operations.
Criminal elements who may intend to exploit the festivities for unlawful activities are strongly advised to desist from such acts.
Particular attention is drawn to youths and other individuals who move around with dangerous weapons or objects for intimidation, engage in acts of hooliganism, form unlawful gatherings, or indulge in substance and drug abuse.
Such persons will be swiftly apprehended and dealt with in accordance with the provisions of the law.
Furthermore, motorists and road users are advised to comply strictly with traffic regulations and avoid reckless or dangerous driving. Defaulters found violating traffic rules or endangering public safety will be arrested and prosecuted accordingly.
The Command also cautioned members of the public against the circulation of rumors, misinformation, and unverified reports, especially on security-related issues. Residents are strongly advised to always verify sensitive information through appropriate authorities before sharing or forwarding such content.
The spread of false information capable of creating panic, misleading the public, or undermining existing peace and security is highly prohibited.
Anyone found deliberately creating, sharing, or disseminating unfounded information through any medium will be traced, investigated, and prosecuted in accordance with the law.
The Command further encouraged members of the public to embrace the principle: “If you see something, say something.”
Citizens are urged to remain vigilant and continue supporting security agencies by promptly providing credible and actionable information regarding suspicious persons, movements, or activities within their communities.
Any threat to the existing relative peace in the State will be decisively addressed using all lawful measures necessary.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Usman Kanfani Jibrin, felicitated with the Muslim Ummah on the occasion of the Sallah celebration and wishes residents of Yobe State a peaceful, joyful, and hitch-free Eid celebration.
He further reassured the public of the Command’s unwavering commitment towards safeguarding lives and property before, during, and after the festivities while urging continued cooperation with security agencies in maintaining peace and order across the State.
