Association of Terminal Operators, Ministry of Education, Bauchi State, has raised alarm over the unjust disengagement of over 200 casual Staff after 7 Years of Service.

The alarm was contained in a statement signed and issued by the Association through Musa Alfa, Chairman and Comr. Abubakar Salisu Burai for Secretary, on Tuesday.

The Association wrote, “With deep pain, heavy hearts, and a strong sense of injustice, we write to humbly bring your attention to the unfortunate disengagement of over 200 casual staff under Bauchi State Ministry of Education.”

It stressed that, “For over Seven years, we have faithfully served as Fingerprint Terminal Operators, dedicating our time, energy, and lives to supporting the education system in Bauchi State. Despite being on casual appointment, we carried out our duties with sacrifice, commitment, sincerity, and fear of God.”

It explained that,”Our work has not been an ordinary-we played a vital role in ensuring that teachers report to their duty stations, attended on time, and performed all their class lessons.”

The Association claimed that, “Through our efforts; discipline and accountability were strengthened within the educational system, making it possible for teaching and learning to take place effectively.”

“It is therefore heartbreaking and deeply painful that after all these years of sacrifice, we were suddenly disengaged without legal warning, fair hearing, and even considering our sacrifices, dedications and contributions towards educational system in the state,” It declared.

According to the Association, “Many of us have families who depend entirely on this job for survival. Today, this decision has thrown over 200 households into hardship, uncertainty, and emotional distress. Some of us have no other source of income, and this situation has left us in fear of how to feed our families and sustain our daily lives.”

“We humbly plead that this decision should not be allowed to destroy the hopes and futures of hardworking citizens who have served the state diligently,” It pleaded.

The Association also passionately appealed to the state government to observe heart and sense of justice, have mercy on them, consider their sacrifices and do not let their years of service go in vain.

“At this critical time when the government is currently on process of employment and recruitment, we sincerely beg that we should not be forgotten. We respectfully request to be given priority and included in the ongoing recruitment exercise, as a way of recognizing our years of commitment and service,” It added.

The Association stressed that,”We are already trained, experienced, and have proven our values. All of us have good educational background and qualifications, some have ND, NCE, Degree and others.”

It stressed that, “All we asked for is fairness, compassion, and an opportunity to continue contributing to the development of our dear state. In light of this, we passionately appeal for immediate review and reconsideration of our disengagement.”

It also appealed for reinstatement and absorption into government service, inclusion and priority in ongoing recruitment exercise as well as a fair and transparent process that acknowledges our years of sacrifice.

The Assertion concluded, “We remain law-abiding citizens who believe in peace, but we are deeply hurt and affected by this situation. We place our hopes in the state government leadership and compassionate intervention.”
