Bauchi State Police Command has lamented the increase in activities of bandits and other criminals in Gwana District of Alkaleri LGA, leading to deaths and abduction of residents of the villages.
The assertion was made by the Command through the PPRO, SP Nafiu Habib, who spoke to Journalists on behalf of the Commissioner, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, on Thursday at the Command headquarters on the prevailing security situation in the area.
He stated that, “This Thursday’s morning of 26th February 2026, I stand before you to brief you on the prevailing security concerns, particularly the situation in some affected communities in the Alkaleri Local Government Area.”
According to him, “In recent days, there has been a resurgence of security concerns in Gwana, Digare, and Kafin Duguri in the Alkaleri Local Government Area. Following a thorough security assessment, the Command, in collaboration with sister security agencies, has initiated a massive deployment of joint security personnel to the affected communities with a view to suppressing the activities of these criminal elements.”
According to him,”It is important to inform the public that these border communities have faced security challenges for some time due to the infiltration of criminal elements from neighboring states.”
Nafiu Habib added that, “On this note, the Command reassures the residents of Mansur town, in Alkaleri LGA, who fled their homes, that the security situation is under control. Despite recent incidents in neighboring Gwana District, Mansur town remains unaffected, and there is no cause for alarm.”
“It is with great certainty that I confirm to you that massive deployments of security personnel and enhanced weaponry have been put in place to subdue kidnapping and banditry in the affected communities,” he added.
According to him, “Moreover, this collaborative efforts of the Police, the Military, the DSS, the NSCDC, and other security agencies, with the active support of the Bauchi State Government under the leadership of the Executive Governor, Sen. (Dr.) Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, are yielding positive results. Operatives are working tirelessly to ensure peace and stability in the affected areas.”
The Command once again informed the people of Alkaleri, particularly the residents of Mansur town, that the security situation is steadily improving and remains under control, assuring them that there is no safe haven for banditry in the areas.
In a bid to further enhance the security situation, CP Sani-Omolori emphasised that community cooperation is crucial in the fight against any form of crime.
He further advised residents to promptly provide intelligence information to security agencies, and to observe and report any strange faces, objects, or suspicious activities or movements, assuring them that their identities will be protected.
He stressed that the Force, under the leadership of Ag. IGP Olatunji Rilwanu Disu encouraged residents to take advantage of the security measures in place and go about their daily activities without fear.
