Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, has been commended by the management of the State Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Agency (RUWASSA) for his administration’s leadership in ensuring that Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) activities continue to receive boost across the State.
The commendation was given as the Agency continues its advocacy visits and campaign against open defecation to the LGAs in the State.
The visit was as part of its sustained advocacy and sensitization campaign to promote improved Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) services and accelerate the attainment of Open Defecation Free (ODF) status across Gombe State.
The continued its LGA-wide advocacy visits to Kwami and Billiri Local Government Areas.
While in Kwami LGA, the advocacy team paid a courtesy visit to the Chairperson of Kwami Local Government Area, who assured the team of the Council’s necessary support and cooperation with the LGA WASH Department and RUWASSA in advancing WASH development and improving water supply, sanitation and hygiene services across the LGA.
The Chairman also expressed appreciation to Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, for his visionary leadership and sustained commitment to improving water supply, sanitation and hygiene services across Gombe State.
The team also visited Billiri LGA, where it paid a courtesy visit to the Mai Tangale and engaged the Senior District Head of Gombe. During the engagements, the traditional leaders assured the team of their support and commitment to the campaign against open defecation and the promotion of improved water, sanitation and hygiene practices in their communities.
The advocacy visits emphasized the need to strengthen the newly established LGA WASH Departments, protect WASH infrastructure, encourage community ownership of water and sanitation facilities, and sustain collective efforts toward achieving Open Defecation Free status across the state.
RUWASSA commended the Governor for his strong political will and commitment to advancing water supply, sanitation and hygiene across Gombe State.
The Agency equally recognized the dynamic leadership of Engr. Mohammed Gibrimu Ahmed, GM RUWASSA, whose consistent advocacy and determination in championing WASH issues before the Governor have continued to strengthen the state’s commitment to improving water supply, sanitation and hygiene services.
His leadership and strategic direction remain instrumental in driving the Agency’s WASH agenda and ensuring a cleaner, healthier and more sustainable Gombe State.
RUWASSA remains committed to working with government authorities, traditional institutions, development partners and communities to eliminate open defecation and ensure access to safe water, sanitation and hygiene services for all residents of Gombe State.
