The Emir of Borgu, Barr. (Dr.) Mohammed Sani Haliru Dantoro Kitoro IV, alongside Niger State Commissioner for Special Duties and Inter-Governmental Affairs, Hon. Abdulrazaaq Mua’azu Jikantoro, received the State Governor, Umaru Muhammad Bago, during the Presidential Initiative for the distribution of food items, nutritional supplies, and medicines to internally displaced persons (IDPs) and other vulnerable people affected by the crisis.
Governor Umaru Muhammad Bago stated that the State Government, with the support of the Federal Government and other partners, is working towards reuniting displaced persons with their families and ensuring their safe return to their respective communities.
He also disclosed that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has directed that the Kainji Lake National Park area in Borgu be cleared and secured, including the establishment of permanent security bases to effectively address insecurity in the region.
In his remarks, the Emir of Borgu, commended the efforts of the Federal and State Governments.
He particularly appreciated Governor Bago for his prompt response whenever challenges arise in Borgu and for consistently standing with the people during difficult times.
The Emir prayed that Almighty Allah continues to guide and strengthen the Governor, grant him wisdom, good health, and success in leading Niger State toward greater peace and development.
Also speaking, the Commissioner for Special Duties and Inter-Governmental Affairs, Hon. Abdulrazaaq Mua’azu Jikantoro, expressed gratitude to the Governor for his continued support to the people of Borgu and assured him that the people of Borgu will continue to support his administration.
Other dignitaries who spoke at the event included the Minister of State for Agriculture and Food Security, Aliyu Sabi Abdullahi; the Chairman of Borgu Local Government Council, Abdullahi Mohammed Nasir; and the Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs, Ahmed Ibrahim Inga.
They all commended the Federal and State Governments for their timely intervention and support to the people of Borgu.
The event concluded with the symbolic presentation of relief materials to selected beneficiaries across Borgu Kingdom.
