Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago has bagged the “Governor of the Year” award by the Daily Times Nigeria newspaper.
The award was presented to him at the Daily Times centenary heroes award held in Abuja.
The Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume ,some state governors, lawmakers, business moguls, and technocrats, among others, were also honoured with awards under various categories for their outstanding performances.
Speaking to newsmen after receiving the award, the State Governor expressed delight over the award, describing it as an additional push for him to do more for the overall benefits of the people.
He appreciated the Daily Times Nigeria newspaper for recognising his efforts in agriculture, support to agribusinesses, infrastructure, and other sectors.
Earlier, the Chairman of Folio Media Group, owners of the Daily Times Nigeria, Fidelis Anosike, gave a brief on the newspaper and thanked, appreciated the Niger State Governor and other awardees for their contributions in service to humanity and their support to the organisation.
Some members of the state executive council, other top government officials, and well-wishers of the Governor also witnessed the event.
Meanwhile,the event also featured a book unveiling by the SGF and a keynote address by Dr. Akinwumi Ayodele Adesina, former president of the African Development Bank, who was also an award recipient.
