Governor Bala Mohammed, others congratulate newly elected NUJ Bauchi executive Council

Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, has, on behalf of his family, the Government, and the people of Bauchi State, warmly congratulated the newly elected Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Bauchi State Council, Alhaji Isa Garba Gadau of the Bauchi State Television Authority (BATV), and the newly elected Secretary, Ishiyaka Isma’il Wunti of Globe FM, Bauchi on their emergence at the State Council election held on Saturday.

The Governor also extended his heartfelt congratulations to all other newly elected members of the State Working Committee and wish them a successful tenure in office.

Bala Mohammed described the election as an important demonstration of the NUJ’s commitment to democratic principles, unity, professionalism and strengthening of journalism and media practice in Bauchi State.

He commended the members of NUJ, Bauchi State Council for their maturity, peaceful disposition and active participation in the electoral process, which contributed significantly to the successful conduct of the election.

The Governor equally applauded the Electoral Committee for its diligence, and commitment to ensuring an orderly exercise, noting that the peaceful transition of leadership reflects the strong democratic culture within the Union.

The Governor assured the new NUJ leadership of the State Government’s continued support and respect for journalists and the media, particularly for their roles in promoting good governance, accountability, development and peaceful coexistence.

He extended the hand of friendship, partnership and fraternity of the Bauchi State Government to the new council, expressing his administration’s readiness to work with the new leadership of the NUJ in advancing the interests of the media community and the overall development of Bauchi State.

The Governor urged the newly elected Executive members to uphold the confidence reposed in them by NUJ members by promoting unity, professionalism, ethical journalism and the welfare of journalists throughout their tenure.

The Governor also assured the newly elected Bauchi State NUJ leadership of his administration’s commitment to the welfare and professional development of journalists in the State .

He specifically pledged that the ongoing construction of a new and befitting NUJ Secretariat would be completed and delivered to the Union before the end of his tenure.

The Governor described the project as part of his administration’s efforts to provide Journalists with a conducive and modern environment for carrying out their responsibilities effectively .

While wishing the new leadership a fruitful, peaceful and successful tenure , the Governor looks forward to a stronger and mutually beneficial relationship between the Bauchi State Government and the Nigeria Union of Journalists, as contained in a statement signed by Mukhtar Gidado, Special Adviser, Media and Publicity to the Governor.

In the same vein, leadership of the Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Bauchi State Council, has congratulated Comrade Isah Garba Gadau and members of his newly elected State Working Committee (SWC) on their emergence at the NUJ Bauchi State Council elections held on Saturday, September 19, 2026.

In a congratulatory message issued by the Chapel, the leadership described the successful conduct of the election and the emergence of the new executive as an important milestone in the affairs of the union, expressing confidence that the new leadership would build on the achievements of previous administrations and work towards strengthening the NUJ in Bauchi State.

The Chapel also commended the outgoing State Working Committee, led by Comrade Umar Sa’idu, for what it described as a successful tenure and for providing the leadership and institutional framework that facilitated the peaceful and orderly conduct of the council elections.

It particularly appreciated the outgoing leadership for ensuring that the electoral process was conducted in an atmosphere that allowed eligible members to exercise their democratic rights and elect new leaders of their choice.

The Correspondents’ Chapel urged the incoming leadership to make unity, professionalism, journalists’ welfare, press freedom, ethical journalism and the protection of the interests of NUJ members central to its administration.

The Chapel further called on the new State Working Committee to promote constructive engagement with relevant stakeholders, strengthen collaboration among chapels, and create an inclusive environment where the concerns and aspirations of all members can receive due attention.

It added, “We congratulate Comrade Isah Garba Gadau and his team on their election and wish them a successful tenure in office.”

The Chapel added, “We pray that Almighty Allah will grant the new leadership the wisdom, patience, courage, fairness and foresight required to steer the affairs of the union and take the NUJ Bauchi State Council to greater heights.”

“We also commend the outgoing administration under Comrade Umar Sa’idu for its service to the union and wish its members well in their future endeavours,” it added.
