The ongoing shutdown of IBBUL by industrial action headed by the Institution’s branch of ASUU has been described as a failure of leadership by the State Governor Mohammed Umaru Bag0.
It was further stated.by some insider sources at the State’s owned University who craved for anonymity in a brief interview with our reporter in Minna, badding that   firstly, Governor Umaru Bago came to power in the State  unprepared.
The sources stressed that that’s why he.the the governor lacks focus and treats this governorship as a family enterprise, operated by just a few people.
According to the sources, “a governor that can travel overseas just to attend a single polo match of his son but lacks sympathy for the 22,000 students at his own state university. has no business claiming to care about the poor”.
It pointed out that about 85% of these students are ordinary children from poor homes, saying that, “They pay school fees, pay house rent, pay “okada” “Commercial Motorcycle Operators) to take them to school, and some struggle to do legitimate hard work just to pay their own school fees.
In addition to the fore going the source further disclosed that shey trek every day for lectures, but all of that has stopped because of one single person who doesn’t seem to prioritize education but calls himself a leader. No!
The sources further recalled that a few months ago, the State Government led by Governor Umaru Bago  shared exotic cars with all the local government vice-chairpersons, but today, they have closed down IBBUL due to lack of funding for the school and denied these students their basic rights.
“Most of you students, especially those who don’t know their left from their right, will be happy about this strike. But seriously, some of you  that are serious  are in deep pain because you know the value of time. It’s not time to be shining teeth and rushing back to your places to rest before the governor decides. It’s also a time to think and reflect: Why did this happen? Why is it happening?,said the insider sources at the Insitution.
It thereby enjoined the students to know the kind of leaders they will vote for in the forthcoming 2027 general elections in the state  because one bad leader can destroy a nation.
It emphasized that this is the right time for all of you students to get involved in politics, directly or indirectly, and vote for people who have good plans and packages for you.
The sources Urged “the students to  study their(the Candidates of respective Political Parties  manifestos, ask for blueprints,.hold them accountable, so we can avoid a situation that sends you home on a baseless strike”, it maintained.
