Mission to train 2,160 persons affected by Leprosy on sustainable livelihood in 6 States.

The Leprosy Mission, Nigeria (TLMN) has said   that it will equip 2,160 vulnerable persons including those affected by Leprosy and disabilities on improved access to sustainable livelihood by 2028.
Speaking after the PAIC Formation and Project Inception meeting in Minna, the Program Officer, TLM, Nigeria, Niger state, Habila Daniel Diko said the programme which will end by December, 2028 will run concurrently in the Federal Capital Territory,Abuja  and five states which include Kogi, Niger, Kebbi, Kwara and Sokoto.
According to  him, “the target groups are persons affected by Leprosy, persons with disabilities, women and girls, youths, Smallholder farmers, community groups, civil society organisations, vulnerable and rural household.
“The Mission will also engage over 300 civil society organisation groups through skill development to advocate and influence public policy on environmental sustainability and adaptive agriculture”.
Diko while saying the 2,160 persons from the Six states will get improved access to sustainable livelihood through skills development and use of technology by 2028, added that “the Mission will equip 1,500 men and women farmers with skills on climate change resilient farming models disaster risk assessment and prevention”.
He thereby disclosed that the programme  focuses on climate change adaptation, environmental sustainability, adaptive agriculture, sustainable livelihood, gender equality, disability inclusion and strengthening civil society participation.
