The Niger State Government has concluded arrangements to launch a major agricultural intervention programme with the distribution of 250 tractors, 50 combine harvesters and 150,000 bags of fertilizer to farmers across the State.
The flag-off ceremony is scheduled to hold on Saturday, May 2, 2026, at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Airport, Minna, beginning at 10:00 a.m.
Indication to this effect emerged on Monday following a Press statement by the Coordinator Press Affairs, SSG Office, Tanko Lawal and made available to Journalists on Monday in Minna.
The statement added that the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Alhaji Abubakar Usman said the event will be performed by the First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu.
The initiative, the SSG stated, is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen agricultural development, promote mechanized farming and improve food security in the State.
Alhaji Usman noted that the programme aligns with the Agricultural Transformation Agenda of the administration of Farmer Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago, which prioritizes increased productivity and modernization of the agricultural sector.
The State Government further explained that the intervention is also in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, which places emphasis on food sufficiency, economic diversification and rural development, the statement added.
The SSG enjoined stakeholders in the agricultural sector, farmers and members of the public to attend the ceremony, which is expected to mark a significant step in repositioning Niger State as a key player in Nigeria’s agricultural value chain.
