Niger Land Dispute leaves 5 Injured, 3 in Critical condition

Land dispute that has been lingering over the years has led to attack and varying degrees of injury of five members of a family with three of them in critical condition at Garatu community  in Bosso local government area of Niger state
.
The incident occurred around 6:30pm   last week Saturday where one of the critically Injured persons was referred to the IBB Specialist Hospital Minna for urgent medical treatment.
The land dispute is between the family of the Makama Bosso family, Alhaji Ibrahim Tukura (aka Alhaji Uche) and the family with that of Alhaji Akara popularly known as Alhaji Isah Nakoji over farmland in Dama their ancestral village also in Bosso local government council.
The family of aged Alhaji Ibrahim Tukura (aka Alhaji Uche)who was severely injured had claimed to be the original owner of the farmland following a Court case on the land was in his favor 18 years ago specifically in 2008nand.it was  held in High Court six where one of them, Justice Aisha Buhari’s   judgement went in his favor.
Ibrahim Tukura who was injured in an interview, said that the matter reopened when another High court two justice Maria Dzukogi in 2015 gave a contrary judgment for the same land with different title name that gave his opponent the judgement for the land.
He maintained that the farmland was handed over to his family by his grandfather in Dama village where their grand parents left the same bland  to him, stressing  that justice Aisha Buhari physically inspected the land before giving her judgement in 2008.
The attackers were from the family members of Umaru Wakili Tukuran Bosso who was earlier defeated in court,
before his children still reopen the case  in High Court two.
Whereby , the ongoing supreme Court appeal on the judgement.. According to the victim, the attack case was reported at Kpakungu police station but claimed that the police did not take any action, alleging that the attackers family member is an officer in the Police station suspected to have been frustrating the process.
Alhaji Ibrahim Tukura (aka Alhaji Uche) has appealed to the Niger state government, Bosso local government Council and relevant security agencies to urgently intervene in the matter in order to forestall reoccurrence of physical assaults, harassment, intimidation going on over the disputed land as well as ensure justice.
