Niger NDLEA Conducts 219 drugs abuse public enlightenment in 2025

The Niger State Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency(NDLEA), has explained  that it has embarked on 219 drug abuse public sensitization between January to December 2025,targeting school children, members of the communities and organizations in parts of the state.

The state Commander of the Agency, Commander Shehu Nomau Gwadabawa made the disclosure  while interacting with journalists at a news briefing on the remarkable achievements of the command, between January to December 2025.

He stated this at a Press briefing held at the Command’s Headquarters in Minna,on Wednesday,31st December,2025.

He highlighted that part of the land mark successes include,Drug Enforcement,Public Enlightenment,Drug Rehabilitation and successful conviction of drug dealers within the period under review.

Gwadabawa stated further  that all Area commands and outpost personnel handle the public sensitization accordingly at all levels.

The NDLEA Boss stressed that the command also counsell no fewer than Two Hundred and Ninety Nine(299) drug users to be out of drug.

He further explained  that the command rehabilitated Sixteen(16) clients, noting that they were brought to their facility for rehabilitation and were all totally freed of drug intake and re-integrated back to the society.

While underscoring the achievements of the command,Nomau revealed that,One Hundred and Twenty Five(125)drug dealers,which includes,(124) male and (1) female were arrested and all have been taken to Federal High Court,saying that, some of them have been convicted,while some are still under trial.

“To be sincere,I owed a lot to my officers,bcs,they have been up and doing,I am only a Commander,I only gives directives,but, the action is done by my men,I really appreciated their efforts and resilience,bcs,for somebody to intercept (3) tones of drugs,a vehicle at a time, including all the dealers were arrested,is only a God fearing and dedicated staff can do that, adding that criminals could be ready to offer anything,but,my men resisted and arrested them as well as brought all of them to the command”,he declared.

He however expressed appreciation for  the unwavering support of the Niger State government,and enjoined  governor Mohammed Umaru Bago for more support with logistics, especially, patrol vehicles, emphasizing  that the command had (8) area commands and most of the offices didn’t have patrol vehicles.

In Nomau’s words”.If vehicles can be given to NDLEA,I assured you that with these developments,we would do more as well as do better”,he maintained..
