Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Barrister Nyesom Wike, has been described as the best thing to have happened to the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), having held on and saving the party from collapse or extinction.
The assertion was made by the Publicity Secretary of the PDP in Bauchi State, Hon Geoffrey Manassah Marti, while speaking to Journalists in Bauchi on Friday.
He commended the former Rivers State Governor for ensuring that the PDP remained a formidable political party in Nigeria as well as the only alternative for Nigerians to choose.
According to him, “I want to doff my cap for the National Leader of the PDP, Nyesom Wike for standing for the party, for his dogedness, patience and the wisdom he used to ensure that the PDP got to this stage of stability that has given Nigerians a platform for a better alternative. We want to say thank you to Nyesom Wike.”
“I want to use this medium to congratulate all members of the PDP National Working Committee (NWC), who emerged during the National Convention held between 29th and 30th of March, 2026 in Abuja,” he added.
On the 2027 general elections, he declared that the PDP is ever ready and will field candidates to contest in all of the offices in line with the objectives of the party.
According to him,”Bauchi State is the home of PDP, as you can see, from 2019 till date, PDP is in power in Bauchi State, you can see what the administration has done for the good of the people of Bauchi State, the masses are very okay with the performance because that is what they want.”
He added that,”For the masses, the platform is very important and they know that PDP is a platform that can always win elections in Bauchi State, the PDP has raised the standards of their living conditions.”
The Publicity Secretary stressed that, “So, we have no cause to fear. We want to tell PDP members and supporters in Bauchi State especially who are scared of the last accident that happened to the party, it has resolved itself.”
According to him, “The PDP is now back on track, free of any litigation and encumberamces, we have a party that is ready to fill in candidates who are capable of winning elections at any time particularly in Bauchi State.”
Reacting to the news that Nyesom Wike had resigned and ready to be the PDP presidential flag bearer in 2027, he dismissed such claims saying that it was the figment of the imagination of the peddles.
Geoffrey Manasseh stared that,”It was an April fool joke, Nyesom Wike is a man of his words a good character not like other leaders who will say something in the morning but change it in the evening.”
He however says that Nyesom Wike ts a Nigerian who is qualified and has the right constitutionally to aspire for any political office in the country.
According to him,”At the moment there is no such declaration by Nyesom Wike and if he chooses to so declare, we will go for him. He has demonstrated capability and capacity to rule, he did it in Rivers State as Governor for 8 years.”
He added that, “You can go and see what he is doing as FCT Minister, I assure you that anyone who has not been to Abuja in last 2 months will look for a guide to get to his destination if he goes today. Let us wait and see.
