The development has put his supporters and admirers in a serious political dilemma considering that time was going in line with the guidelines released by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the 2027 general elections.

Meanwhile, the Stakeholders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the State met on Saturday to continue Search for a political safe landing, a development that has further confused the followees.

The stakeholders however, set up a high-level committee to explore possible political alignments, including potential collaboration with other parties, as part of efforts to address the party’s internal crisis.

This follows a closed-door stakeholders’ meeting held at the Government House banquet hall in Bauchi.

Briefing Journalists after the meeting, the State Chairman of the PDP, Pharmacist Samaila Adamu Burga, said that while there is no definite decision yet, there exists what he described as a “thin possibility” of aligning with other political platforms.

Samaila Adamu Burga explained that the newly constituted committee has been mandated to interface with all interested political parties and assess their conditions before recommending a preferred option.

According to him, the committee will not act in isolation but will engage widely with relevant stakeholders both within and outside the state before arriving at any decision.

He emphasized that the move is necessary in view of the current challenges within the PDP, noting however that the party remains strong and enjoys widespread support.

The committee, chaired by the Deputy Governor, Rt. Hon. Auwal Mohammed Jatau, includes top party officials, elected representatives, Commissioners, and other stakeholders.

The PDP Chairman added that further consultations will continue, after which stakeholders will reconvene to decide on the next political direction.

He however assured that the best decision on the issues will be taken in the next one week stressing that whatever is being done, is still within the time frame of the electoral law provisions and the INEC schedule for the 2027 general elections.

He then dismissed the rumours of the defection to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), stressing that nothing of such happened urging people of the State to disregard the rumours.

Samaila Burga explained that the party is not in a hurry to make any decision that could undermine the interests of its members across the state, despite competing demands from other political parties, including the African Democratic Congress ADC and the All Progressives Congress APC.
