A yet unidentified driver lost his life when his vehicle loaded with yam stepped on an Improvised Explosive Devices (IED) on Lumma-Babanna road in Borgu local government of Niger State.
It was reliably gathered that the explosion of the IED which occurred around 2′ o’clock on Sunday when the planted bomb by suspected terrorists on the alternative route created beside the recently bombed bridge that cut off Lumma- Babanna border to the neighbour Ng republic of Benin .
Earlier, on same day a motorcycle rider was also shot dead by the suspected terrorists after planting the explosive devices at the exactly point.
It could be recalled that on 23rd March 2026 around 2′ o’clock in the morning, Gunmen suspected the be terrorists who were said to have come from the Kainji National game park detonated an explosive device and bombed a bridge that connects Lumma-Babanna- New Bussa to Agwara communities in the Niger North Senatorial District of the State.
Security agencies thereby stated that the bridge was bombed to disrupt security operations in the area in order to ensure the suspected insurgent groups unhindered criminal activities in the areas.
In addition, the economic activities of the area has been disrupted and deteriorating since the bombing of the bridge that have cut off the communities within the area down to the neighbouring Benin Republic for their commercial activities.
When contacted the Spokesperson of the Niger State Command of the Nigeria Police SP Wasiu Abiodun confirmed the bomb explosion and the incident of the motorcycle rider who was allegedly shot dead by the people suspected to be terrorists group.
Similarly, bandits have reportedly kidnapped a yet to be as ascertained number of artisanal miners at a mining site in Mai Dangi, near Mangoro, in Mariga local government area of Niger State.
Residents of the area informed Journalists on the condition of anonymity that the bandits in their numbers invaded the mining site in the afternoon on Saturday and shot a young girl at a close range who attempted to flee after sighting them.
