The Executive Chairperson of Toro Local Government Area, of Bauchi State, Hon. Ibrahim Dembo Abubakar, has successfully sponsored the registration of beneficiaries for the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) conducted by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB).

The development was in a move aimed at expanding access to higher education for indigent students as part of his Educational Intervention Initiative to compliment the efforts of the Governor, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed in the education sector.

The Free JAMB Registration Exercise, initiated and funded by the Chairman, targeted orphans, the less privileged, and academically promising students across Toro LGA.

The initiative is part of Hon. Dembo’s broader Educational Support Programme designed to reduce financial barriers and promote inclusive learning opportunities in the area.

Speaking during the data capturing process, beneficiaries expressed deep appreciation for what they described as a timely and impactful intervention.

One of the beneficiaries, Miss Hajara Zailani, commended the Chairman for prioritizing girl-child education, noting that the support would encourage more young girls in the community to pursue higher education without fear of financial constraints.

Similarly, Mr. Shalom Sunday lauded the Chairperson’s commitment to the educational advancement of youths in Toro LGA, describing the gesture as a life-changing opportunity for many families who would otherwise struggle to afford the registration fees.

Hon. Dembo, while reiterating his administration’s commitment to human capital development, emphasized that education remains the strongest tool for transformation and a vital foundation for sustainable development. “No child should be denied knowledge because of circumstance.

He stressed that, “When we educate a child, we uplift a family, strengthen a community, and secure the future.”

The Chairpers’s Special Adviser, Farouq, who supervised the exercise, confirmed that all selected beneficiaries were duly captured and wished them success in their forthcoming examinations.

He added that the beneficiaries were carefully selected from across the wards in Toro LGA to ensure fairness and inclusivity.

The initiative has been widely applauded by community members, who described it as a strategic investment in the future of Toro LGA and a practical demonstration of leadership committed to empowering the next generation through education.
