Supporters and followers of the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Prof Mohammed Ali Pate, in Bauchi State, have been urged to remain calm and wait for official response from the Minister over the call on him to contest the 2027 gubernatorial ticket of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC)
The call was made by Prince Mohammed Sani Hassan,
Director General, Pate Youth Ambassadors Initiatives (PYI), in a statement he made available to Journalists on Sunday.
According to him, “To all our supporters and followers who have been reaching out physically, through Facebook, WhatsApp, and text messages regarding the resignation of our principal, Professor Muhammad Ali Pate, CON.”
He wrote that, “We sincerely appreciate your concern, interest, and unwavering support.
We wish to clearly state that, according to the provisions of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 (as amended), particularly Section 84 (12) of the Electoral Act 2022, as well as the guidelines of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), there is no specific constitutional deadline mandating resignation on a fixed date.”
Mohammed Sani Hassan added that,”The law only requires that any political appointee must resign before participating in party primaries. This means that resignation can legally take place at any time prior to the primary election, not necessarily on a particular date.”
“It is important to also understand that the directive of 31st March, 2026 being circulated is an administrative instruction from Mr. President, not a constitutional or statutory requirement,” he added.
He therefore, urged all their followers and well-wishers to remain calm and exercise patience, assuring that, “At the appropriate time, and before the commencement of the primary elections, an official position will be communicated.”
He further stressed that, “Let it be known that Professor Muhammad Ali Pate, CON, remains deeply committed to the progress and development of Bauchi State. While the President still values and requires his service at the national level, the people of Bauchi State also recognize his capacity, leadership, and dedication.”
According to him,”He is a leader who genuinely loves, cares for, and prioritizes the interests of Bauchi State and its people. We appreciate your continued support and confidence.”
